What Does Stretching Mean To Me?
Stretching has become an essential part of my life.
Think about this, every morning when we wake up the first thing we usually do is open up our arms, let out a yawn, and stretch. This is the body’s way of telling us let's get the blood circulating and wake up those muscles! I believe the vast majority of people know that we need to stretch, but they don’t understand why stretching is important.
I personally did not truly understand the benefits of stretching until college when I started to get into exercising and developed the routine of stretching after my workout. I noticed that when I did not stretch my body would be in pain, and I would walk around feeling stiff. When I joined the Stretchworkz team I learned that stretching has way more benefits than just lessening pain.
Stretching helps improve my posture, increase blood circulation, prevent injuries, and stretching allows me to move better because I feel more open and free within my own body. (Not to mention that after stretching, I sleep like a baby!)
Stretching is a form of self-care for me. I know this is what my body needs in order for me to get the best use out of it, and I don’t mean just working out. Stretching allows me to confidently and comfortably use my body for day-to-day activities from walking, sitting, standing, as well as simply just bending down to pick something up.
What I really love about stretching is it is for everyone. Whether you work out or sit a lot, whether you consider yourself old or young, stretching benefits all bodies!
